Dust-free construction with the Fendt 942 Vario

The Fendt 942 Vario moves forward slowly. The display shows a speed of just 0.1 to 0.3 km/h. Behind it, a massive soil stabiliser mills through the subsoil to a depth of up to 40 centimetres. What is conspicuous is what is missing: dust. No haze in the air, no dust emissions and a good result.

The secret lies in the special design. In front of the stabilizer is a closed hopper that feeds lime, cement or a mixture of both directly and precisely into the ground. This increases the load bearing capacity, making it more stable and ensuring that buildings can stand firmly and securely on it later. For the customers of Ernst Höbel GmbH, this is precisely what matters. The medium-sized construction company from Immenhofen, near Marktoberdorf, deliberately focuses on dust-free methods. “Our customers appreciate the clean solution, and that is exactly what we can deliver with this combination,” says Sebastian Brennich, Head of Machinery & Technical Equipment.

1,000 working hours per year

The company last invested in 2023, replacing the sixth-generation Fendt 939 Vario with a Fendt 942 Vario featuring the FendtONE onboard driver's workstation. “We have already purchased five new 900 series machines in the company’s history,” reports Sebastian Brennich. “We regularly replace the machines to ensure we always use state of the art technology.” Everyday use shows why. The Fendt 942 Vario is in operation for over 1,000 hours a year, primarily for ground stabilisation, but also for transport during excavation work. The 60 km/h road approval saves time on the road, whilst the tyre pressure control system ensures maximum traction on varying surfaces. They don’t actually need the track guidance feature in the Profi+ specification, but it helps make the machine attractive to agricultural customers when it comes to resale.

However, other qualities are decisive for use in front of the stabiliser. “We add ballast to the Fendt in a targeted manner so that it reaches the necessary unladen weight; with the tyre pressure control system, we increase the contact patch and utilise the permanent four-wheel drive with Fendt VarioDrive. That gives us the grip we need,” says Sebastian Brennich. “We were already familiar with the advantages of continuously variable transmission from older models; they are unbeatable at these low speeds. For us, Fendt has the best tractor.”

The economical fuel consumption contributes to profitability, making the use of the tractors worthwhile. And there is another aspect that plays a role for the Höbel company: “We buy where we earn our money. That means a German products in any case, and in this case one from Marktoberdorf, so right next door.”

With around 200 employees, the company has a broad portfolio and offers services in the fields of building and commercial construction, civil engineering, timber construction, demolition, as well as waste disposal and recycling. Always easy to spot thanks to the “HÖBEL green” visible from afar.
