Avocado and citrus farmer finds versatility and economy with Fendt 209p

Tim Kemp is a passionate avocado and citrus farmer in the Peats Ridge area of New South Wales. Ten months ago Tim purchased his first Fendt tractor from GWS machinery in Winsor, New South Wales and has been impressed with the tractors’ capabilities ever since. Tim Kemp “Surprising” was the word Tim used to describe the past 10 months of working with his new Fendt 209P Vario. In particular Tim was impressed with the tractors fuel consumption. The Fendt was purchased to be the farms lead tractor and takes care of the farms most important operations. The Fendt undertakes mulching, muck spreading and also tows a 2,000 litre air blast sprayer.

The Fendt performs impressively for every task I use it for, between mulching, spraying and muck spreading I have averaged 5.8 litres per hour” said Tim, impressed by the tractors versatility and fueleconomy the tractor achieves.
Fendt’s Tractor Management System (TMS) is the key to the easy and economical operation of the. With this function activated, Tim just has to set the desired speed and the tractor runs the transmission and engine RPM as efficiently as possible while maintaining his desired speed of travel. Tim has owned many different makes of fruit tractors during his career however he has not had a fruit tractor with the unique features Fendt offers in this sector.

“The electronic selection of the three PTO speeds is a great feature Fendt have on this model” said Tim. Fendt have used the Vario Stepless CVT transmission in this tractor and electro hydraulic spool valves. This has allowed for the tractor to have a flat floor and generous cab space which is not the case with many other speciality tractors in this sector.

“I spend long days in the Fendt and the flat floor and well organised cab layout make the days work much more comfortable” said Tim.

The glass sunroof on the Fendt is an asset for Tim and his business as he uses it to look up and inspect his avocados while spraying under the trees.

“In avocado farming I have very short time periods for harvesting the fruit while it is ripe and I need to have every advantage possible to harvest at the correct time, the reliability of the Fendt and the support from my dealer GWS Machinery helps me keep on top of my avocado and citrus fruit harvests” said Tim.
