A durable and reliable combi press

Magnus Carlsson needed a new round baler for the upcoming season. The choice fell on Fendt and a Rotana 130 F Combi, a fixed chamber press with wrappers.

Since 2004, Magnus Carlsson has run the machine station MC Lantbruksservice AB in northern Öland, where he helps farmers with various services, including round baling. I press 6,000-7,000 bales per year. It will mainly be plastic-wrapped bales, says Magnus.

Ahead of this year's season, Magnus Carlsson needed a new round baler. After many years with one and the same brand, he decided to switch to Fendt and a Rotana 130 F Combi, which both presses and plasters the bale.

I have two Fendt tractors before and have seen what they stand for and know that Fendt is good stuff. They have come a long way and I have not had much trouble at all.

I found out that the Fendt Rotana 130 F Combi had come to Sweden so I was up in Linköping at a machine station and looked at it. Those who bought that particular copy were very happy and I decided to invest in it, says Magnus.

This spring, the combi press was delivered to northern Öland and has worked flawlessly for Magnus so far. The result has been very compact and fine bales with good density, and the maintenance of the machine has been easy to handle.

There are several things that appeal to Magnus with the Fendt Rotana 130 F Combi with fixed chamber. The mechanical tailgate lock, for example, he experiences as gentle on the machine. Mechanical locking on the tailgate is a great thing on a press, especially when it has been very dry and you lie and drive with the bale for a long time before it is finished pressing. I feel that the mechanical locking does not give the same strain on the machine, if I compare with the pressures I have had before, he says.

Islander Magnus Carlsson experiences the press as very quiet to drive, almost so that it is barely heard that it is running. The large, sturdy tires provide good flow in driving and the insert is great. In the cab, he has a large and solid touch screen with easy-to-understand menus. The pickup on the Fendt Rotana 130 F Combi is without cam tracks. The input is wide, which means that even wider strings are caught. The pickup is among the most divine in this press, says Magnus. The pickup width is something I have missed before. The only thing you have to think about is that it will be a little wider in transport.

The fascination with the Fendt Rotana 130 F Combi is also that it is just a combination of baler and wrapper. The baler technology is the very heart of this machine. The bale rotates safely on the wrapping table. To adapt the wrap to the current lining, it is easy to change the prestress of the plastic film by changing the gear. The wrapping system and a sensor roller means that an optimized number of plastic layers are placed around the bales with overlap at each layer. The wrapping has worked flawlessly, says Magnus.

Who is the Fendt Rotana 130 F Combi suitable for?

I would say that it is suitable for machine stations that have a higher annual run, but also farmers who drive from around 1,000 bales a year and up. If you are looking for a reliable machine and want to avoid major worries, this combi press is something I can recommend, concludes Magnus Carlsson.
