Fendt promises – the press tests.

Strong in the field – top in transport. Superior in the test!
Low vehicle weight, high payload and overall efficiency – with its powerful versatility, the Fendt 800 Vario is not only convincing in tests. Because with an unladen weight of 9.5 t and a permissible payload of up to 6.5 t, you can transport more faster. And the Fendt 800 Vario is lively, agile and economical to drive. Overview of the top results.

dlz (7/2015)

The maximum torque of 1217 Nm is already available at 1450 rpm. The low-end power of the engine is excellent.

profi (12/2014)

The new 828 Vario also sets standards for the PowerMix; 248 g/kWh (+14 g/kWh DEF) are in total even better than the 246 g/kWh (+22.5 g/kWh DEF) of the IIIB machine – and more than 15% lower than the average!

profi (12/2014)

No matter if it is the introduction of the 300° wiper, moving the seat compressor to the outside of the cab or the new terminal with a glass surface and LED backlighting – the designers in Marktoberdorf are always coming up with something that makes driving even more of a pleasure.

dlz (7/2015)

With the tyre pressure regulation system VarioGrip, Fendt is the only manufacturer to offer a factory-installed tyre pressure regulation system for tractors. There is no way around a tyre pressure regulation system for those who take soil protection seriously and want to drive at top speed on the road as well. The larger contact area in the field reduces slip, increases traction as well as lowers the time required and fuel consumption.

profi (12/2014)

And that the Fendt is a transport expert is not only apparent in the optionally available 60 km/h top speed. At 40 km/h, the consumption was nearly 20% below the average of all previously measured tractors. At 50 km/h it was also 17% less. And at 60 km/h the measurement results of the competition are missing…

TU Munich (3/2015)

Across all the test trials, the transport unit, optimised with MPT tyres and reduced speed when driving on the road, had a on average 11.4 % lower fuel consumption.

The Fendt 828 Vario in the DLG PowerMix

Engine and transmission: Superior performance. Perfection in detail

Fendt promises.

High level of constant power: Twin-charging with two turbochargers ensures pure dynamics with fuel-saving driving characteristics. The torque curve is well-rounded in the low speed range, so that more power is already available there. The engine also has a large constant power range.

The press writes.

dlz (07/2015)

The Deutz engine has two turbochargers for new power characteristics. In this way, technicians achieved better cylinder filling in the lower engine speed range and thus higher torque.

The press writes.

dlz (07/2015)

The maximum torque of 1217 Nm is already available at 1450 rpm. The low-end power of the engine is excellent.

The press writes.

profi (12/2014)

The 828 Vario already has nearly 194 kW/264 hp at the PTO at rated engine speed.

Engine and transmission: Perfect coordination for the best drive train

Fendt promises.

The tractor regulates the load limit fully automatically and adjusts the engine speed and transmission ratio, thus controlling the reduction in engine load. In this way, the engine and transmission are perfectly coordinated, which means extremely low fuel consumption.

The press writes.

profi (12/2014)

In terms of actuation and control modes – Fendt calls this Automatic Maximum Output Control 2.0 – there is still no competitor that can match the stepless Vario transmission.

Tyre pressure control made easy: with VarioGrip

Fendt promises.

VarioGrip is the integrated Fendt tyre pressure regulation system. The inner tyre pressure can be adjusted as desired for field or road work from 0.6 to 2.5 bar using the Varioterminal. The tyre pressure regulation system VarioGrip adjusts tyre pressure fully automatically within a short amount of time, even while driving at maximum speed.

The press writes.

profi (12/2014)

There are no protruding pipes (width!) and the whole thing can be conveniently operated in the Varioterminal with two programmable air pressures for each axle (field/road) – excellent!

The press writes.

profi (12/2014)

Despite this, the system will surely help to utilise the potential of an adjusted inflation pressure more consistently, since the operator does not need to climb out of the cab.

The press writes.

profi (12/2014)

Prof. Dr. Volk (South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences) has measured 8% higher area coverage and 8% lower diesel consumption when using a cultivator.

VarioGrip for the right pressure in the tyre

Fendt promises.

An inner tyre pressure of 2.4 bar instead of the usual 1.8 bar on the road shortens driving time by up to three percent, while consuming two percent less diesel.

The press writes.

dlz (7/2015)

With the tyre pressure regulation system VarioGrip, Fendt is the only manufacturer to offer a factory-installed tyre pressure regulation system for tractors. The system is easy to operate using the Varioterminal. There is no way around a tyre pressure regulation system for those who take soil protection seriously and want to drive at top speed on the road as well.. The press writes.

profi (12/2014)

The blinker still has steering wheel reset. However, the steering angle sensor, with time and speed-dependent control, prevents the blinker from being deactivated too soon – perfect!

The Fendt 800 Vario in transport test

What was tested?

In the study carried out by the Technical University Munich, a transport unit comprising a Fendt 828 Vario and a Krampe Roadrunner DA 34 trailer was used in the road transport test. The rig was tested in a total of 24 measuring runs on a 33.9 km long stretch with a 440 metre elevation gain.

The test track - total 33.9 km:

Urban3.14 km
Extra-urban23.92 km
Road traffic6.84 km
Elevation gain440 m

How was it tested? - One test under different conditions

Tyres

  • Standard version: tractor fully equipped, with Michelin AS tyres and rear linkage for field operations (air pressure: 1.2 - 1.4 bar)
  • Optimised version: Tractor fully optimised for road operations, with Nokian MPT tyres, without rear linkage (air pressure: 3.2 bar)

Load

  • Weight standard version, unladen: 21,440 kg
  • Weight optimised version, unladen: 21,000 kg
  •
Weight laden: 40,000 kg

Speed

  • 50 km/h
  • 60 km/h

Why was it tested?

Amounting to 500 million tonnes, the agricultural transport volume takes 2nd place in the total transport volume in Germany.

This volume will increase in the future through:

  • Growing farms and longer distances between the fields
  • Centralisation of agricultural trade
  • Tractors as central universal vehicle with key significance in transport

Overview of the results: 11.4% fuel saved

Optimisation of tractor for road transport by changing tyres and reducing weight lowers diesel consumption by an average of 11.4% with 2.4% higher payload.

Findings of the TU Munich.

TU München (3/2015)

Across all of the different test variants, the transport rig optimised for road transport, with MPT tyres and a reduced weight, had an average of 11.4% lower fuel consumption.

Findings of the TU Munich.

TU München (3/2015)

The fuel savings when laden is approx. 8% and taking the 2.4% higher payload of the optimised variant (MPT tyres) into consideration, an average of 10.3%. In the unladen variant, up to 14.6% is achieved.

Findings of the TU Munich.

TU München (3/2015)

If, e.g., the silage maize harvest or the application of organic substrates is carried out in the form of single-phase logistics systems [with one and the same tractor rig], it could make sense to use a tyre pressure regulation system, due to the frequently changing conditions between the field and road.

Findings of the TU Munich.

TU München (3/2015)

If the fuel consumption of the different variants are also included, the 60 km/h versions save an average of 8.5% in time while consuming 5.5% more fuel.

More transport: lower consumption

Fendt promises.

The 800 Vario has a top speed of 60 km/h at an engine speed of only 1,700 rpm, which gives it an up to 16% higher transport capacity* and lower fuel consumption.
