For all its clichés and picturesque landscapes, Corsica remains no less a fully-fledged agricultural land. With its livestock, culture and vineyards, the island's farmers are not alone in resorting to the use of agricultural equipment to complete their work. In fact, during the peak tourist season, a number of coastal towns regularly bring out the same fleet of tractors onto its fine sandy beaches, with the task of cleaning and levelling off the beaches to give holiday-makers the ultimate sense of an idyllic stay, especially for the early risers arriving to discover a pristine and unspoilt sandy beach... For the Ajaccio beaches and many other public surroundings, this early-morning work is done by Fendt tractors equipped with sand sieves with a screed at each end adding the final touches.
